Mussel Awareness Workshop | | September 18th at 3:30 PM | *CHANGE* FOLGR office; located at 100 Monroe St. Alderson, WV. This is the large brick building on Route 12 next to the pedestrian bridge and on the opposite corner of the Exxon station Come learn about freshwater mussels and their importance to the Greenbrier River. WV Department of Environmental Protection biologist Doug Wood will be presenting the workshop. Be prepared to get wet as a portion of the workshop may be in shallow areas of the river. |

History Alive! Presentation | | September 18th, 7:30 pm | Greenbrier River Campground Experience the French and Indian War during its 250th anniversery. Doug Wood honors his Cherokee ancestors by telling the story of Man Killer Ostenaco’s efforts during the French & Indian War. 18th century Cherokee lifeways are also highlighted. This West Virginia Humanities Council program is sponsored by the Friends of the Lower Greenbrier River, and is supported with additional financial assistance from the Office of the Secretary, West Virginia Department of Education and the Arts |

Riverdeck Fest at Stewarts! | | Saturday, September 25th from 5:00-8:00 pm | Stewart's Hot Dawgs; one mile east of Alderson on Rt. 63 Join us for our first annual Riverdeck Fest at Stuart’s Hot Dawgs! A buffet dinner will feature fried catfish, feel and eat shrimp, smoked pulled pork, smoked brisket, roasted ears of corn, coleslaw, potatoes, baked beans and fountain drinks. A cash bar is also available on site. Enjoy music by Patrick O’Flaherty and a live auction following dinner with a variety of local items. Proceeds will benefit Friends of the Lower Greenbrier River. |
